LARGE POLITICAL STRIKE IN FINLAND 1. – 3.2.2024
The Finnish trade unions have declared a large political strike. The strike will start from Thu
1.2.2024 at 06.00 and end on Sat 3.2. at 06.00. The Finnish Transport Workers’ Union “AKT”
will participate in this strike and it will have a large impact to harbours, transportation,
terminal activities and tanker and petroleum product industry.
Strike will stop the majority of international road transportation as all the harbour
stevedores will be on strike. Only trailer with driver can entry to the vessel. Normal “loose
trailer” is not an option during strike. Strike will cause capacity limitations, schedule and
lead time alterations, ferry cancellations and strike surcharges. Although the strike lasts 48
hours it has impacts during weeks 5 and 6.
Please note that there will be a ferry capacity shortage during 29.1. – 6.2.2024.
We regret the inconvenience caused by the strike, but we will use all the routings available.
Unfortunately alternative measures and routings cause extra costs.
